How to Slow Down A Hummingbird from Michael J. McNamara on Vimeo.

It’s almost impossible to capture videos of Hummingbirds in flight with a normal camcorder. They move so fast (up to 60mph), and turn so quickly that you’ll get whiplash trying to follow them. But with a high speed camera–including several Casio models and a Sony camcorder or two–you can shoot at 240 or 300fps. When played back at normal 30fps, the “slow motion” hummingbirds reveal their amazing flight skills–like being able to rotate their wings, fly backwards, upside down, or sideways, and stop on a dime in mid air. If you look closely, you’ll even see them stick out their tongues!
